Job Description

Were looking for a sharp, tech-savvy professional with a legal background to join as a Document Automation Consultant. This role sits at the intersection of legal practice and technology, ideal for someone who enjoys logical problem-solving and process improvement.

Youll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated legal documents using tools like XpressDox. Youll also engage with clientshelping implement automation solutions, providing training, and troubleshooting issues.

This position is well-suited to former paralegals, legal secretaries, or junior lawyers with an interest in tech, logic, and legal operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automated document templates using XpressDox (or similar platforms)
  • Translate legal precedents into automation logic (variables, conditions, loops, user inputs)
  • Troubleshoot template errors and user issues
  • Support the rollout of automation projects with clients
  • Train and support client users (remotely or in person)
  • Analyze client needs and recommend automation solutions
  • Collaborate with product and technical teams for escalations
  • Maintain version control, documentation, and change logs
  • Monitor performance and continuously improve templates

What Youll Need (Requirements)

  • Legal experience: 13+ years as a paralegal, legal secretary, or junior lawyer
  • Proficiency with legal documents (contracts, agreements, pleadings, etc.)
  • Strong grasp of MS Word Styles and formatting
  • Logical thinker with an interest in automation or low-code tools
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Clear communicatorable to explain logic to non-technical users
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with document automation tools (XpressDox, HotDocs, GhostDraft, etc.)
  • Background in legal tech, legal operations, or software development lifecycle
  • Familiarity with version control or template management
  • Teaching, training, or client onboarding experience
  • Exposure to APIs or integrations with document systems
