About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our finance function, you will be responsible for managing multi-national payrolls across Southern African countries, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and driving process improvements. You will lead a high-performing team and work closely with HR, Finance, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the full payroll function across multiple regions
- Lead, mentor, and manage payroll and time & attendance teams
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, including overtime, benefits, and third-party payments
- Maintain compliance with statutory requirements (PAYE, UIF, SDL, COIDA)
- Prepare reconciliations, variance reports, and statutory submissions
- Manage payroll systems (Sage, Pay Space) including upgrades and data integrity
- Drive process improvements and implement system enhancements
- Ensure audit readiness and support internal and external audits
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and stakeholders to ensure seamless payroll operations
Requirements
- Education: National Diploma or Degree in HR, Accounting, or Payroll Administration
- Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in payroll administration
- Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with Sage 300 or similar payroll/accounting systems
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Strong leadership and team management ability
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Qualifications
- National Diploma or Degree in HR, Accounting, or Payroll Administration (if applicable)
