About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Professional Officer to join our Corporate Services team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will provide specialist geospatial advice and analysis to City departments, support department with geospatial data and products, and ensure compliance with geospatial data standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support department with geospatial data and products including 3D building modelling, digital elevation modelling, and remote sensing data
- Assist with the management and dissemination of geospatial data according to the Spatial Data Infrastructure Act
- Carry out and co-ordinate geospatial projects and ensure accurate information is captured, processed and disseminated
- Assist with contract management for geospatial tenders
- Process, update and maintain geospatial data, layers and metadata
- Acquire and standardise data from various formats
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Provide specialist geospatial advice and analysis to City departments and attend to public information enquiries
Requirements
- A three-year tertiary qualification in Geomatics, Geoinformatics or GIS field
- A minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in Geomatics, Geoinformatics, Geospatial or GIS
- Professional registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) will be advantageous
Qualifications
- Certified copies of qualifications must be available on request. Copies of supporting documents will not be returned.
Salary & Benefits
- Basic salary: R532 737 to R635 305 per annum
