SHREDDER OPERATOR
Reference: MID601
Location: Cape Town, Kuils Rivier
Role Purpose:
Looking for an experienced Shredder Operator capable of running high-capacity shredding machinery and assisting engineering teams in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
This role is vital for consistent throughput and requires a skilled operator with strong technical aptitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate shredding machines safely, efficiently and according to SOPs.
- Monitor machine performance and identify abnormalities early.
- Assist engineering and electrical teams with fault identification and troubleshooting.
- Perform standard operator-level maintenance including lubrication, cleaning, inspections.
- Record machine data, output volumes and downtime events.
- Prevent contamination and ensure correct feedstock handling.
- Adhere to safety standards, PPE requirements and production targets.
- Assist with start-up and shutdown procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years operating shredders or similar heavy industrial machinery.
- Ability to understand mechanical and electrical symptoms of equipment problems.
- Strong observational skills and ability to respond quickly to plant issues.
- Good physical fitness and safety awareness.
- Experience in a scrapyard, recycling plant or heavy-duty manufacturing environment.
