About the Role
Our client, one of the largest insurance and financial services providers in South Africa, is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their dynamic team. As a key member of the wealth and investments division, you will provide expert legal advice on contractual matters, product development, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of legal documents including investment management agreements, service level agreements (SLAs), LISP SLAs, client-facing documents, product terms, marketing material, and data agreements.
- Provide reliable legal support for various initiatives and projects, including the launch of new products and portfolios.
- Collaborate confidently within multi-disciplinary project teams, including tax, marketing, compliance, and IT.
- Ensure efficient management of contracts through the entire contract lifecycle and support continuous template improvements.
- Advise internal stakeholders on legal matters, contracting, service and product queries, and the implementation of legislation.
- Provide legal advice on operational processes and conduct legal research to deliver commercially focused opinions.
- Monitor, identify, and report on legal risks, legislative developments, and emerging risks in projects, policies, and systems.
- Work closely with regulatory compliance and risk teams to manage regulatory changes and embed a culture of good governance.
Requirements
- Education: LLB Degree
- Certification: Admitted Attorney
Qualifications
- A Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation is advantageous.
