Maintenance Technician
Purpose
The main purpose of this position is to fill the complete maintenance function of the entire facility, this will include but not limited to the monitoring and reporting of the refrigeration systems, maintenance of the sub-ambient facilities, management and control of assets, building upkeep to ensure a safe and compliant operational functionality of the site while remaining within budget
Reporting to:  Group Maintenance Specialist and Cold Store Manager
Responsibilities
EFFECTIVE MONITORING AND REPORTING OF REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS

1. Inspect the plant daily.
2. Check the service detail preventative sheets.
3. Repair any scheduled and un-scheduled repairs.
4. Calibrate and verify the measuring equipment.
5. Record and document all the activities events and concerns.

UPKEEP AND MAINTAIN BUILDING AND FACILITIES

1. Check and inspect all the preventative maintenance.
2. Scheduled and un-scheduled mid- and minor repairs.

        2.1. Painting
        2.2. Plastering
        2.3. Pluming
        2.4. Electrical devices and appliances.
3.Service and upkeep the security gate and fencing.
4.Arrange and report on major maintenance projects.
5.Reporting on and budget for all facilities and building expenses.
 
FULL MAINTENANCE OF THE SUB AMBIENT FACILITY

1. Draft and implement the Preventative Maintenance schedule.
2. Execute emergencies, un-scheduled maintenance.
3. Attend repairs in accordance with planning and maintenance schedules.
4. Manage the contractors and scheduling.
5. Report on and plan for all preventative maintenance activities.

 
ASSET MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL

1. Maintain and report on asset register.
2. Stock take of equipment and assets.
3. Inspect equipment and assets.
4. Replenish and replace assets in accordance with budget.

 
MAINTAIN AND ADHERE TO ALL AUDIT PREPARATION AND COMMUNICATION

1. Maintain and administer all preventive maintenance checklists.
2. Compile and file all relevant documentation for audits.
3. Ensure facility is compliant with all food safety regulations.
4. Attend audit meetings and actual audits.
5. Lead and accommodate auditors upon visit.
   1. Report and attend to any findings or concerns.
   2. Eliminate any non-conformities that might lead to audit failure.

    
   ASSURANCE OF SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE OF REGULATION STIPULATIONS.

   1. Maintain and report on asset register.
   2. Stock take of equipment and assets.
   3. Inspect equipment and assets.
   4. Replenish and replace assets in accordance with budget.

    
   MAINTAIN AND ADHERE TO ALL AUDIT PREPARATION AND COMMUNICATION.

   ASSURE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AT ALL TIMES

   1. Adhere to energy saving strategy as prescribed by Group Maintenance Specialist.
   2. Ensure systems are in place and active to prevent energy wastage.
   3. Report any deviations from strategy immediately.
   4. Ensure continuous improvement and monitoring for possible actions to be put in place.

   ADHERE TO AND MAINTAIN MAINTENANCE BUDGET.
    

   1. Assist with cost indications and budgetary calculations.
   2. Inform Group Maintenance specialist and cold store manager of possible adjustments on budgets.
   3. Procure quotations for as hoc parts and equipment for authorization.
   4. Comply with budgetary measures.
   5. Update budget reports accurately.

    
   Requirements:
   Qualification:
   Minimum: N4 – Matric (NQF)
   Preferred: N5 – N6 (Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration), Red seal certified. Millwright Matric
   Experience:
   Minimum: 5 years with preferred qualification.  10 years without the preferred qualification.
   Preferred: +5 years with preferred qualification with red seal certification
   Accreditations/ Registered bodies         

   • Red seal certification (E/Seta)
   • CAT A valid accreditation

   Legal requirements:
   Valid Code B driver’s license
   Other:
   Medical fit with clear criminal record

Qualification:

Technical Competencies
Knowledge

• Operational infrastructure maintenance: Mobile Racking, Loading Docks and temperature seal doors and walling.
• Extensive knowledge and experience with (MHE) Material handling equipment
• Extensive knowledge of Ammonia refrigeration system
• Extensive electrical three phase and single-phase knowledge
• General Building Maintenance: Plumbing, Painting, and Plastering.
• Extensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety rules, requirements, lockouts, tagout and risk assessme

Skills:

• Computer Literate (Outlook, Excel), working with computer maintenance management systems (CMMS), Programable logic controller (PLC)
• Able to work at Cold to subzero environments
• Maintaining of FMCG and logistic portfolio
• Able to keep composure under pressure and emergencies
• Reporting on incidents and activities
• Maintaining of Ammonia refrigeration system components

Adverse working conditions
