About the Role
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations in Durban – La Mercy. This role ensures alignment between production capacity, customer demand, and material availability while driving on-time delivery and continuous improvement within planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production plans
- Coordinate and align production activities across all departments
- Ensure production schedules meet customer demand, forecasts, and sales orders
- Monitor and ensure availability of raw materials and components
- Optimize machine utilization and workforce allocation
- Manage and control Work-in-Progress (WIP)
- Collaborate closely with procurement, warehouse, production, and quality teams
- Track production performance against plan and identify risks or delays
- Drive On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) delivery through effective planning
- Maintain accurate ERP system data, including:
- Production orders
- Bill of Materials (BOMs)
- Lead times
- Improve production sequencing to reduce downtime and changeovers
- Prepare and present daily and weekly production reports
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
Matric (Grade 12)
Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or Operational Management
