About the Role
Hire Resolve is seeking a highly experienced Resident Quarry Engineer to lead the operations of our client’s quarry in Durban, KZN. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily quarry activities, supervising contractors, and ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the quarry’s activities to supply materials for two national road projects under SANRAL.
- Manage daily quarry operations, supervise contractors, issue directives, and verify adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Perform routine site checks, conduct quality control, track progress, and proactively address potential issues or delays.
- Prioritize and enforce safety measures for all quarry personnel, including implementing protocols and conducting regular inspections.
- Guarantee that quarry operations adhere to all applicable environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
- Offer technical expertise and problem-solving solutions to the project team.
- Analyse and interpret engineering documents to ensure accurate project execution.
- Facilitate effective communication among stakeholders, including engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Generate and submit progress updates, quality assurance documentation, and site records.
Requirements
- ECSA Professional Engineer/Technologist certification required.
- SACPCMP PrCPM certification preferred.
- 3+ years quarry management experience.
- SANRAL design standards familiarity.
- COLTO/COTO construction specifications and quantity surveying expertise.
- Road construction and material specifications knowledge.
- Project management software and MS Office proficiency.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong English communication and interpersonal skills.
