About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Merchandiser to lead our fashion and apparel range, driving sales growth and revenue targets through strategic product development and supplier management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build long-term partnerships with key national retail accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead overseas buying and trend research trips, identifying new product opportunities and global market trends
- Oversee strategic range building aligned to customer requirements and brand direction
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with local and international suppliers
- Take full ownership of the critical path, proactively resolving lead time and production challenges
- Manage costing structures and ensure margin optimisation across all accounts
- Lead and mentor the merchandising team, ensuring performance targets are met
- Manage key national retail accounts and build long-term strategic partnerships
- Drive sales growth, revenue targets, and business expansion initiatives
- Present curated ranges to buyers and lead range reviews
- Take detailed briefs from buyers and translate them into commercially viable product offerings
- Lead price negotiations to ensure profitability while maintaining strong client relationships
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Fashion, Clothing Management, or related field
- 5 years experience in a senior merchandising role within the fashion/apparel industry
- Proven experience managing major retail accounts
- Strong commercial acumen with solid costing and margin management experience
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capability
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work strategically while managing operational detail
