Durban: Senior R&D Electronic Engineer – Durban

The business requires engineers who can contribute from the start this is not a training role. We are looking for technically strong, hands-on professionals who can operate independently and add value from day one. ⚠️ Please note: The position is strictly based in Durban. Candidates based in other cities must be willing to relocate at their own cost. The Role You will play a key role in the design, development, qualification, and implementation of electronic hardware and embedded software projects. The position covers the full product lifecycle from concept and design through to production and certification. Non-Negotiable Requirements Minimum 5 years relevant experience Proven experience in electronic hardware and embedded software design and development Degree or BTech in Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering (ND qualifications will unfortunately not be considered) Must be technically competent and able to perform without extensive supervision or training Key Responsibilities Research & Development Design, develop, integrate, and test hardware and embedded software for new product development Ensure compliance with company processes and international regulatory standards Design & Collaboration Lead and participate in design reviews Collaborate with internal teams and external technology partners Production & Manufacturing Support Prepare production data packs Improve product manufacturability Define production testing parameters Support test fixture integration Debugging & Problem Solving Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and firmware issues Support existing and new products through effective technical problem-solving Certification & Compliance Develop and execute product testing procedures Drive certification processes and production readiness Documentation & Support Compile technical documentation including specifications and reports Provide technical support to sales, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers Technical Experience Required Embedded C (or similar) for microcontroller development RTOS experience (Zephyr advantageous) RF technologies and IoT exposure (advantageous) ECAD tools (Altium preferred) ARM and PIC processor experience EMC design principles and signal/power integrity Strong debugging capability (hardware and software) Personal Attributes Strong analytical thinker Deadline-driven with the ability to manage multiple projects High attention to detail Proactive and solution-focused This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned R&D Engineer who wants to work in a technically advanced environment and be part of a stable, growing organisation.
