About the Role
The General Manager: Food & Hospitality Services will be responsible for managing and leading the business to maximize profitability, maintaining operational standards, ensuring excellent customer service, and compliance with relevant Acts. This role reports to the Directors/EXCO and has 5 direct reports: Sales Reps, Warehouse Manager, Retail & Admin Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance and Administration:
- Comply with all relevant management reporting processes
- Manage all financial procedures of the business
- Maintain correct and competitive pricing and ensure an acceptable Gross Profit percentage is managed and achieved
- Ensure all outstanding Debtors/Accounts are recovered timeously and review and authorize all transactions reflected on the bank statements
- Interpret management reports, review monthly management accounts, comment on variances, and take relevant action
- Operations and Customer Care:
- Ensure all operational standards are implemented and maintained at the business as required by the Company
- Comply with all relevant checklists & evaluations as set out by the Company and ensure audit compliance pertaining to the business in which the business operates
- Interface with customers & clients, resolve queries and complaints, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly stock takes and ensure all company procedures are followed and shrinkage is controlled
- Warehouse Management:
- Ensure the safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely and accurate dispatch of goods
- Maintain productivity targets and computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems
- Carry out maintenance procedures efficiently and adhere to required maintenance schedules and warehouse standards
- Staff Management:
- Monitor and control staff’s time and attendance
- Manage staff performance standards and adhere to company timeframes for performance management
- Identify training needs, implement relevant training in liaison with the Group HR Manager, and interview applicants when vacancies arise
- Ensure all staff adhere to the company’s disciplinary code and are involved in disciplinary processes as required
- Health and Safety:
- Ensure the appointed Health & Safety Officer complies with all safety standards and regulations
- Ensure all staff are knowledgeable of the warehouse’s emergency procedures, where all emergency shut-offs and exits are located
- Assist customers when necessary in case of an emergency
- Facilitate emergency response training and health and safety training for all relevant staff
- General:
- Perform and carry out any other ad hoc duties as and when required by executives
- Liaise with different personnel to prevent delays and on-time delivery
Requirements
- Grade 12/Matric
- Relevant post-matric qualification (advantageous)
- 5 years’ experience in food service/warehouse & logistics/retail environment
- 5 years’ experience in a management role
- Strong computer skills, specifically MS Excel
- Packaging experience (advantageous)
