About the Role
The Orchard Manager position is a critical role within Farm Manager SA, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our orchard. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional with a strong background in agriculture, supervision, and customer service. They will be responsible for ensuring the efficient management of staff, equipment maintenance, and overall productivity of the orchard.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibrate fertilising equipment
- Execute the programme and control sprinkler volumes and pressure. Monitor and repair leakages.
- Weed control is effective. Mulching and slashing of orchard floor conducted in accordance with environmental factors.
- Oversee the productive functioning of labourers, specialist drivers and workers, maintenance and supervision of all health and safety factors and measures, disciplinary measures taken as appropriate, staff motivation and overseeing the general well-being of employees.
- Check the functioning of all pruning equipment.
- Execute the pruning programme according to plan. Controlling of the pruning process and labourers.
- Train tractor drivers and specialised drivers and workers, irrigation controllers, pruners.
