About the Role
A leading industrial manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Head of Strategic Development to lead capital projects, product development, and operational improvement initiatives that support long-term sustainability and business performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and a proven track record in managing CAPEX projects and large technical improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and govern all CAPEX and stay-in-business projects, ensuring compliance with project governance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee disciplined project execution including scope, cost, schedule, quality, and contractor performance management.
- Drive product development initiatives aligned with market requirements and technical capability.
- Lead energy optimisation, water efficiency, and GHG reduction initiatives to support sustainability and cost savings.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to improve mill efficiency, asset reliability, and operational performance.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives across engineering and operations.
- Lead complex special projects, including asset optimisation and major equipment decommissioning.
- Provide oversight of quality management systems, laboratories, ISO compliance, and customer complaint resolution.
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or similar)
- 1015 years experience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment
- Proven experience managing CAPEX projects and large technical improvement initiatives
- Strong experience in operational efficiency, sustainability, and continuous improvement programmes
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and engage with senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of quality management systems, ISO standards, and regulatory compliance
