About the Role
As a Design & Development Engineer at Execustaff South Africa (Pty) Ltd, you will be responsible for driving product design, research, and development in a manufacturing or mining-related environment. You will lead the design, development, prototyping, testing, and optimisation of new products, as well as enhance existing product lines. This role requires advanced proficiency in CAD design, technical drawings, and engineering calculations using SolidWorks.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate expertise in product design, research and development within a manufacturing or mining-related environment being an ADV.
- Lead the design, development, prototyping, testing, and optimisation of new products, as well as the enhancement of existing product lines.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD design, technical drawings, and engineering calculations using SolidWorks.
- Take ownership of costing, quoting, and the preparation and verification of bills of materials (BOMs).
- Analyse and interpret customer requirements, providing technically sound and commercially viable engineering solutions.
- Experience in screening products is advantageous.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between sales, production, and toolroom to ensure efficient project execution and delivery.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, casting, machining, and tooling, with the ability to optimise designs for manufacturability.
- Oversee and enforce quality control standards, including documentation and compliance with internal and customer requirements.
- Proficient in ERP systems, including item creation, product structures, and material planning.
- Conduct site visits, gather technical data, and provide on-site engineering support where required.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and performance targets.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and draftsmen, ensuring skills development and knowledge transfer within the team.
