About the Role
Communicate Finance is seeking an experienced Financial Manager to lead our finance team, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will own and maintain our standard costing system, drive cost reduction initiatives, and produce actionable variance reports for senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the complete standard costing system across all product lines, ensuring accuracy and currency of all Bill of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system (Evolution)
- Conduct monthly manufacturing cost variance analysis (actual vs. standard costs) and produce clear, actionable variance reports for CFO and operational leadership
- Drive cost reduction initiatives by identifying inefficiencies in material, labour, and overhead costs through detailed cost analysis
- Manage the RFQ (Request for Quotation) costing process in collaboration with the Sales and Operations teams, ensuring that product pricing reflects accurate cost structures and target margins
- Perform product profitability analysis across the full product range to support commercial decision making
- Manage the preparation and review of monthly consolidated management accounts, including comprehensive commentary, ensuring timely submission to the CFO
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for all group entities in compliance with IFRS
- Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring completeness and accuracy of all financial records
- Oversight responsibility for the completeness and accuracy of inventory records (raw materials, work in progress, finished goods) within the ERP system
- Manage inventory-related financial risks and implement robust control procedures
- Ensure that inventory valuation is in compliance with IFRS standards
- Design, implement, and monitor a comprehensive system of internal financial controls across all business transactions (creditors, debtors, payroll, cash)
- Support CFO to ensure compliance with all South African tax requirements including VAT, Income Tax, and Payroll Taxes
- Lead, manage, and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Support the CFO in implementing financial strategies and Group objectives
Requirements
- Minimum 5 – 10 years experience in manufacturing or industrial industry
- Deep knowledge of standard costing, activity-based costing methodologies
- Strong proficiency with ERP systems Evolution (Sage Evolution) experience highly advantageous
- Strategic thinking with strong commercial and business acumen
- High analytical aptitude ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills
