About the Role
The Hiring House is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our plant equipment, while also implementing preventative maintenance techniques to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) on plant equipment
- Execute planned maintenance (Daily/Weekly/Monthly) as per Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards
- Attend to unplanned machine and service interruptions
- Review preventative maintenance schedules and amend where required
- Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for all breakdowns
- Install, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot instrumentation equipment & control systems
- Program & troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), variable speed drives (VSD’s), flow meters and level transmitters
- Perform back-ups on control systems
- Read, understand and interpret schematics, programming & technical specifications
- Refer to manufacturer’s manuals for repair, maintenance, troubleshooting of equipment
- Improve plant productivity & quality through preventative intervention
- Identify continuous improvement projects to reduce line & batch losses
- Support project team to install & commission new equipment
- Perform upgrades to older equipment where required
- Review for technical in-house modifications, additions, major repairs & electrical expertise
- Liaise with independent contractors for instrumentation, control systems, repairs & installations
Requirements
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in the instrumentation space / light current specifically (NQF 6 – 7)
- 5 years minimum experience
- Previous training on AVEVA & Festo will be advantageous.
