About the Role
Karebo Lighting is seeking a skilled Metering Electrician to join our team, responsible for installing, commissioning, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electricity metering systems across multiple environments. The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring metering integrity, energy measurement accuracy, and client satisfaction on all assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and testing of single-phase and three-phase metering equipment, including smart meters
- Conduct meter audits, inspections, validations, and tamper investigations
- Diagnose faults and verify the accuracy of metering equipment using calibrated testing tools
- Maintain and upgrade metering systems, including CTs, VTs, and metering enclosures
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant electrical regulations and safety standards
- Liaise with site supervisors, clients, and team members to ensure timely project delivery
- Maintain exceptional quality standards in all installations and repairs
- Promote and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through professional conduct and service
Requirements
- Strong technical competence in metering systems and SANS regulations
- Accuracy and attention to detail in work performed
- Ability to diagnose faults and verify the accuracy of metering equipment
- Experience with meter audits, inspections, validations, and tamper investigations
- Knowledge of electrical regulations and safety standards
Qualifications
- Formal education in Electrical Engineering or a related field (e.g. National Diploma or Higher Certificate)
- Relevant work experience in metering systems installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- SANS certification (or willingness to obtain)
