About the Role
Hire Resolve, a leading South African IT company, is seeking an experienced On-Site Support Engineer to join their team in Johannesburg, GP. As the On-Site Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing daily technical support to end-users, maintaining network infrastructure, managing documentation, and liaising with third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical support to end-users in person and via remote access tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Maintain the network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Manage documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, and user manuals.
- Liaise with third-party vendors to coordinate hardware repairs, software updates, and other technical support.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Participate in IT projects, such as system upgrades and new software deployments.
- Monitor and maintain backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Standby on-site after hours on a rotation schedule.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar technical support role, preferably in an enterprise environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, and wireless networking.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Qualifications
- Education: A degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant IT certifications, such as CompTIA A, Network, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or equivalent, are highly desirable.
