Gauteng: Professionally Registered Electrical Engineer – Substations (HV/MV) posted by Network Finance

We are seeking a Professionally Registered Electrical Engineer to join our Substation Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, specification, and technical oversight of HV and MV substation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, client requirements, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute substation primary and secondary design for HV/MV networks.
• Prepare single-line diagrams, schematics, protection settings, equipment specifications, and BOMs.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
• Provide technical support during procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning.
• Ensure designs comply with NESC, IEC, IEEE, SANS, or other relevant standards.
• Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and technical audits for ongoing projects.
• Coordinate with utilities, EPC contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare technical reports, design calculations, and project documentation.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.Eng/BSc or equivalent).
• Professional Registration  Pr Eng 
• Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in HV/MV substation design and engineering.
• Proven experience with 132kV–400kV, and 11kV–33kV systems (depending on region).
• Proficiency in design and analysis tools such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of substation equipment (transformers, switchgear, protection relays, CTs/VTs, control and protection panels).
• Excellent communication, report-writing, and project coordination skills.
