About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Fitter to join our team in Germiston. As a seasoned tradesperson with experience in local and state building codes, you will be responsible for overseeing the assembly of fabricated metal parts and sub-assemblies, as well as performing operational maintenance and repairs on machinery and mechanical parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Study drawings and specifications to determine material, method, and sequence of operations
- Assemble fabricated metal parts and sub-assemblies to produce machines and equipment
- Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy and fit using precision measuring instruments
- Set up and operate machining tools and presses, ensuring prescribed cutting and shaping tools are in place
- Shape metal stock and castings with precision using machining tools
- Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
- Diagnose faults, perform operational maintenance, and repair machines and mechanical parts
- May be involved in on-site machine and equipment erection
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Fitter
- Sound knowledge of local and state building codes
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools
- Ability to interpret blueprints for mechanical systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
