About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Field Guide to join our team at Bright Placements. As a Field Guide / Game Ranger, you will be responsible for delivering unforgettable wildlife experiences for guests while supporting conservation, safety, and hospitality operations in remote bush settings across South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Guiding & Guest Engagement: Conduct daily guided game drives and walking safaris, sharing expert knowledge on fauna, flora, ecosystems, tracking, and conservation.
- Operational & Conservation Support: Perform vehicle and equipment checks, assist with reserve management tasks, support conservation and ethical wildlife practices.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate guiding reports and sighting logs, communicate with lodge staff for scheduling, safety, and guest logistics.
- Professional Conduct: Uphold high standards of professionalism, punctuality, and guest service, representing the lodge or reserve positively to all guests and partners.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
- FGASA qualification — typically Level 1 (basic guide) and often higher (Level 2/3, Trails Guide)
- Valid Code 8 South African driver’s licence PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
- First Aid certificate (Wilderness/basic)
- DEAT/CATHSSETA/NDT registration (required by many lodges)

- FGASA Level 1 or higher
