About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Lodge Manager to join our team in Hoedspruit. In this role, you will act as the acting manager in the absence of the lodge manager and take full responsibility for the management of various teams. You will be inspired to deliver exceptional guest experiences, maintain high standards, and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Acting Lodge Manager in the absence of the Lodge Manager
  • Inspire, stimulate, and lead the Front of House team
  • Maintain the Pan FOH system, Day Sheets / Rooming List / Arrival Report, Reception, Curio Shop, and Switch Board
  • Manage Banking, Invoices, and Gratuities
  • Welcome & Goodbye Site Inspections
  • Show Time Guest Feedback Centricity Feedback system
  • Inspire, stimulate, and lead the housekeeping team
  • Maintain Housekeeping standards within the Lodge
  • Conduct spot checks of rooms & turndowns
  • Control and supervise the Lodge Maintenance teams
  • Work closely with the Reserve Maintenance Manager on preventative maintenance service schedules
  • Understand and manage Staff Accommodation
  • Manage Lodge Maintenance tasks
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all staff
  • Provide firefighting equipment / drill training
  • Conduct risk assessments for the Lodge

Requirements

  • Hospitality management qualification
  • Minimum 5 years Management experience in a 5-star boutique operation or Big 5 reserve with similar lodge environment
  • Strong Operational and Financial experience
  • High Emotional Intelligence
  • Hospitality and service training experience
  • Room Division Experience
  • Practical experience with some maintenance skills
  • Valid driver’s license and own transport

Salary & Benefits

Monthly package negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. Live-in position with meals on duty, pension fund, staff lodge nights, work cycle 21 days 7 days off, annual leave 15 days.
