Job Summary
Our client offers a unique and tranquil lodge destination, known for its immersive guest experiences, exceptional service, and deep connection with nature. Nestled in a pristine natural environment, they pride themselves on offering guests unforgettable wildlife encounters and a genuine connection to the surrounding landscape.
We are seeking two passionate, professional, and knowledgeable Field Guides to join the team. The successful candidates will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional guided experiences that are both informative and entertaining, ensuring guests leave with lasting memories of the lodge and its natural surroundings.
- Conduct daily game drives, bush walks, and nature-based experiences tailored to guest interests and expectations
- Interpret and share in-depth knowledge of local flora, fauna, geology, and cultural heritage
- Ensure the safety and comfort of guests at all times during field activities
- Monitor and maintain vehicles, equipment, and safety gear to a high standard
- Assist with lodge hosting duties as needed, including guest interaction and storytelling
- Contribute to conservation efforts and lodge sustainability initiatives
- Maintain up-to-date logs and reporting as required by management and regulatory authorities
Requirements
- At least 3 years’ guiding experience in a high-end lodge environment.
- Accredited with a CATHSSETA NQF2 or NQF4 Nature Site Guide qualification (both theory and practical components completed).
- Valid First Aid Certificate (Level 1 or higher)
- Valid drivers license and PDP
- DEAT registered and legally compliant for guiding
- Rifle competency and ARH (advantageous)
- Minimum 2 years’ guiding experience in a similar lodge or reserve environment
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service mindset
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a genuine passion for the natural environment
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
