Job Description

Title : Business Analyst Location : Cape Town (Mowbray) – Hybrid work model THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The key function of a BA is to work with the stakeholders to analyze and document business processes for a system or piece of software to be developed. To determine functional requirements and high-level features, as well as elaborate on the details of the software project and requirements to set the direction of the project, and support its implementation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Document the client requirements Document in a clear manner Document a well-structured document according to the specification template Mockups and sample reports Maintain documentation and ensure it remains up to date Minimal rework required for artifacts produced Delivers to customer expectation UAT percentage below 9% Failure rate Ensuring the finished product is what the client has asked for Running workshops with clients Spec handover sessions with the development team Demo sessions Collaborating with the development team and Development project managers Collaborating with the Product Owner Backlog grooming Mandatory Skills / Abilities required for the Job Experience with Mockup tools Jira, confluence (or similar) Proficient in Microsoft Office Experience with SQL Experience in User Stores Wire Framing Experience in using Agile Safe methodologies Participating in Estimation stores and creating acceptance criteria Create and run demo sessions Time tracking management Experience with requirements documents and requirement solicitation MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 3 years experience in a Business Analyst role BA degree or qualification Retail related experience Exposure to enterprise development

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our team in Johannesburg. As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for interacting with stakeholders to capture rating, pricing, and underwriting requirements, and translating actuarial/pricing models into system requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Conduct gap analysis and review current product setup in the system
  • Design and interpret data flows, sequence diagrams, ERDs
  • Work with APIs, systems integrations, and SQL for data retrieval and validation

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years working experience in IT business analysis
  • 5 years of experience in Short-Term insurance environment
  • 3-5 years rating engines, including: Data dictionaries, data mapping, and product configuration
  • Proven experience translating actuarial/pricing models into system requirements
  • Exposure to multiple insurance products (Commercial and Personal Lines)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business and/or relevant Information Systems qualification
