Reporting To: SOC Manager / Program DirectorRole Level: Expert / SpecialistRole PurposeThe SOC Specialist is responsible for proactive threat hunting, detection engineering, and SIEM/XDR content creation. This role designs and sustains the SOCs detection capability aligned to MITRE ATT&CK and enterprise security frameworks.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain advanced detection content across SIEM/XDR/MDR platforms.Develop hunting hypotheses and execute proactive threat hunts using ATT&CK mapping.Create and maintain IOCs/IOAs and behavioral detections.Perform detection gap analysis and propose new use cases.Collaborate with L3 and SOC Manager to operationalize playbooks.Track emerging threat campaigns and translate into detections and advisories.Lead post-incident improvement workshops and control-effectiveness reviews.Minimum RequirementsExperience: 812+ years in SOC, Threat Hunting, Detection Engineering, or SIEM Content roles.Technical Skills:Expert SIEM/XDR content engineering and correlation design.Advanced query building (KQL/SPL/AQL/SQL-like depending on platform).Threat hunting methodologies and ATT&CK alignment.Attack-chain mapping and threat behavior analytics.Platform Experience:Experience on Fortinet SIEM/XDR/MDR is advantageous, but other enterprise SIEM/XDR/MDR platforms are equally acceptable (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel/Defender, Splunk, QRadar, ArcSight, LogRhythm, Palo Alto Cortex, CrowdStrike, Rapid7.
