Delivery Manager / Project Manager Location Gauteng, Johannesburg-OnSite Job Type Contract Full-Time hours Primary Industry Banking and Finance Job Description The Delivery Manager / Project Manager oversees the successful delivery of projects within the banking and finance sector, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and business requirements. This role involves managing project scope, timelines, resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations to deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule and within budget. The successful candidate collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, coordinates activities across multiple workstreams, and maintains clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Key Duties and Responsibilities PI planning, tracking, RAID, stakeholder comms. Plan, initiate, and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to agreed scope, budget, and timeframes. Define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with business stakeholders and senior management. Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, resource allocation, risk management, and mitigation strategies. Coordinate the efforts of internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless project delivery. Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain project momentum. Manage stakeholder communication, providing regular updates and facilitating decision-making processes. Ensure compliance with organisational policies, industry regulations, and quality standards. Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and recommend improvements for future projects. Support change management activities to facilitate adoption of project outcomes. Required Qualifications Professional qualification in project management, such as PRINCE2 Practitioner or equivalent. Relevant tertiary education, preferably a degree or diploma in Business, Information Technology, Finance, or related discipline. Experience A minimum of five years experience managing projects or delivery within the banking and finance sector. Proven track record of successfully delivering medium to large-scale projects on time and within budget. Experience working in a fast-paced, regulated environment with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrable experience in risk management, resource coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Knowledge and Skills Agile delivery, banking programmes. Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools. Excellent organisational and time management abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure. Familiarity with banking and finance industry regulations and compliance requirements. Competent in using project management software and Microsoft Office suite. Preferred Qualifications Certification in Agile or Scrum methodologies. Experience with large-scale digital transformation initiatives. Additional certifications in risk management or business analysis. Working Conditions The role is based in Johannesburg and requires full-time commitment during standard business hours. Occasional extended hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines or attend meetings with stakeholders across different time zones. The position involves working in an office environment with frequent interaction across departments and may require some travel within the region. The role demands high levels of concentration and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic and sometimes demanding environment.
