About the Role
Route Management is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our commercial motor industry, you will be responsible for diagnosing problems, performing routine maintenance tasks, and fixing damaged components to ensure our fleet runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosing problems with diesel engines
- Routine maintenance tasks such as checking oil, air brakes, lubrication, batteries, nuts and bolts, and other items
- Fixing damaged electrical components and parts, and repairing or replacing worn parts like brake pads, wheel bearings, and sensors
- Taking steps to prevent new problems from developing
Requirements
- Red seal qualification
- Must have truck experience
- Must have knowledge of air brakes
- Must have knowledge of petrol engines
- Strong Diagnostics skills
- Equipment Maintenance and Heavy Equipment skills
- Equipment Repair and Vehicle Maintenance skills
- Troubleshooting abilities
- Experience in repairing construction and earthmoving equipment
- Experience in repairing forklifts
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent understanding of automotive trucking industry
- Fluent in English
