Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
• Effective maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Minimise engineering related callouts in areas of responsibility.
• Ensure that specified approved stock levels are kept so minimizing down time.
• Assist in contingency planning and organising planned outages.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are always maintained in good working condition.
• Ensure safety and housekeeping meets the standards as set out in terms of the OHS Act and as per client requirements
Academic Qualifications
• Trade Certificate (Red Seal) – Electrician
Experience
• Preferably 3-5 year’s post trade test related work experience, specifically including Control and MV switching, lockouts and isolations, electrical design and installations, inspections, fault find, repair and maintenance, preferably within water treatment operations with FIDIC and NEC
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Control and MV switching.
• Electrical aptitude and awareness:
o Knowledge of appropriate electrical principles and practices preferably in water and wastewater treatment.
o Experience in Mining
o Operating principles of plant equipment such as but not limited to valves, pumps, and motors.
o Problem-solving skills to solve and repair electrical faults efficiently and effectively.
o Adequate knowledge of system structures and how to troubleshoot systems by utilizing the knowledge of how the system was designed to perform
o Operational and safety procedures pertaining to maintenance activities, including safe use of tools and hand tools
• Maintain pertinent records
• Read, interpret, and understand standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in written form.
• Computer literacy, use of Microsoft Office
• Valid code 08 driver’s licence
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

• Ability to demonstrate initiative and motivation
• Ability to proactively work within a team together with the ability to work unsupervised
