Johannesburg: Marketing Specialist

Job Description

Description: Develop and execute marketing strategies that align with global objectives while growing brand awareness, customer engagement, and sales in the South African market. Oversee the full lifecycle of marketing campaigns, from concept through execution and ensuring alignment with key buying cycles and promotional timelines. Conduct ongoing research into market trends, competitor activity, and consumer behaviour to inform marketing decisions. Partner with the graphic designer to produce visually engaging digital and print content that connects with the local audience. Manage and implement digital marketing initiatives, including social media campaigns, email newsletters, and web content updates. Assist in planning and executing local events, brand activations, and pop-up stores to strengthen brand visibility and engagement. Ensure all marketing efforts maintain consistency with the brands identity and align with global messaging. Measure and report on marketing performance, using insights to refine and enhance future campaigns. Requirements: Minimum of 35 years in a marketing management role within the footwear industry or a closely related consumer goods sector. Solid understanding of both strategic and operational marketing, with hands-on experience in campaign execution, digital marketing, key account management, and market research. Proven ability to adapt and localise global marketing strategies to fit local market conditions. Familiarity with seasonal buying patterns and promotional cycles within the footwear industry. Innovative thinker with the ability to conceptualise and execute campaigns that drive engagement and sales. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and departments. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Competent in digital marketing platforms and tools, including social media, Google Analytics, and email marketing systems. Advantageous if you have a background in design or experience as a Desktop Publisher or graphic designer. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is beneficial. Job Specification: Marketing Specialist Location: [To be specified by your company, e.g., Gauteng] Employment Type: Permanent Salary: R20,000 – R30,000 Cost to Company (CTC) per month Key Responsibilities The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for executing the company’s marketing strategy, focusing on developing B2B content, managing digital platforms, and generating materials to support the sales team in targeting corporate clients. 1. Content Creation and Management Develop and manage a content calendar for digital platforms, ensuring alignment with service offerings (Occupational Health, Wellness, Training). Write and edit professional content, including blog posts, case studies, company news, and website copy, ensuring technical accuracy and brand consistency. Assist in the creation of corporate documents and white papers used for lead generation and client education. 2. Digital and Social Media Management Manage and update the company website content (e.g., WordPress or similar CMS), ensuring all information is current and accurate. Oversee the company’s professional social media channels (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook), scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and responding professionally to queries. Implement basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques to improve organic visibility for key services. 3. Sales Enablement and Support Design and maintain sales collateral, including brochures, corporate presentations, service flyers, and internal communications. Execute targeted email marketing campaigns to prospects and existing clients to promote specific services and drive engagement. Manage the inventory and quality of branded promotional items. 4. Reporting and Performance Tracking Track and report on marketing performance metrics (e.g., website traffic, content downloads, social media engagement, email campaign performance). Assist in market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and new client segment opportunities within the corporate health sector. Minimum Requirements and Qualifications Education: Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Science, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably within a B2B (Business-to-Business) environment. Proven experience managing professional social media platforms and updating website content via a Content Management System (CMS). Skills and Proficiencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to write clear, professional, and persuasive marketing copy. Proficiency with digital marketing tools (e.g., Google Analytics, email marketing software like Mailchimp, basic SEO tools). Basic graphic design skills or proficiency with design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign/Illustrator) for creating marketing materials is beneficial.
