About the Role

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Foreign Creditors Clerk to join our team at Network Finance in Johannesburg North. As a key member of our accounts payable department, you will be responsible for processing and capturing foreign creditors’ accounting transactions accurately, validating tax invoices, and reconciling monthly foreign vendor statements.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and capture foreign creditors’ accounting transactions accurately
• Validate tax invoices to ensure correctness and compliance
• Reconcile monthly foreign vendor statements
• Maintain proper filing and record-keeping of creditor documentation
• Capture and manage creditor information on SAP
• Handle foreign currency transactions and ensure correct exchange rate application
• Resolve supplier queries and discrepancies in a timely manner

Requirements

• Diploma in Accounting; Diploma in Accounts Payable will be an advantage
• Experience working with foreign creditors and foreign currency transactions
• Working knowledge of SAP
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and communication skills

Qualifications

• Completed Diploma in Accounting or relevant qualification

• Capture accounting transactions accurately in the accounting system
• Capture and process local (including freight) and foreign creditors’ invoices
• Prepare and maintain reconciliations of ledger accounts
• Maintain an effective filing system for accounting records, contracts, and invoices
• Accurately maintain foreign currency exchange rates in SAP
• Reconcile purchase orders, goods received, and supplier invoices
• Ensure invoices related to contracts align with agreed contract terms
• Confirm the validity and approval of tax invoices and credit notes
• Manage, reconcile, and settle inter-company transactions and accounts
• Maintain the contract register, including reconciliations and price updates
• Follow up on and reconcile monthly vendor statements (local and foreign)
• Investigate, communicate, and resolve reconciling differences and discrepancies
• Prepare vendor payment runs and forward remittance advices to suppliers
• Allocate vendor payments and maintain cleared vendor accounts
• Reconcile foreign currency bank accounts
• Release inward foreign payments on the banking platform
• Monitor cash flow requirements for foreign currency bank accounts
• Create and validate new vendor accounts
• Maintain vendor master data on SAP, including payment terms and banking details
• Act as the first point of contact for foreign currency banking transactions and bank audit queries
• Prepare supporting documentation for monthly VAT submissions
• Act as first-line contact for vendor queries
• Ensure compliance with all financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Keep the Finance Manager informed of potential accounting issues
• Prepare monthly creditors age analysis
• Provide periodic reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules as required
• Assist with documentation required for internal and external (interim and final) audits

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a foreign creditors or similar accounting role
• Strong working knowledge of SAP or a similar ERP system
• Experience with foreign currency transactions and reconciliations
• Solid understanding of VAT and financial compliance requirements
• High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
