About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to join our team in Johannesburg, responsible for managing the production of deboned red meat for export. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meat cutting technology and production management, with experience in abattoirs or fresh cut red meat production.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day production processes to meet/exceed targets and maintain high-quality yields.
- Plan and monitor running costs within budget and set run rates for new products.
- Monitor line giveaway on weights and packaging waste.
- Ensure all key performance indicators (KPIs) are followed and the highest standards in quality assurance, food safety management systems, and safety and health are maintained.
- Coordinate production lines to ensure smooth operation and maintain accurate stock levels and factory inventory.
- Implement company quality policy requirements and ensure adherence to internal and external quality systems.
- Maintain a culture of adherence to FSMS/QA/SHE/HACCP/GMP standards and participate in manufacturing operations meetings.
- Plan and schedule rosters, holidays, and overtime to ensure compliance with Labour Law.
- Identify training needs and perform scheduled training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and review staff performance, conduct interventions for quality control issues, and conduct annual appraisals for Team Leaders.
Requirements
- Matric or equivalent qualification in Meat Cutting Technology or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience as a Production Manager in an abattoir or fresh cut red meat production environment.
- Strong knowledge of Matrix, HACCP, GMP, and FSMS/QA/SHE/HACCP/GMP principles.
Qualifications
- Formal education in Meat Cutting Technology or a related field (e.g., National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree).
