About the Role

Join a forward-thinking Digital Solutions Provider as a Senior Specialist: Network Engineer in Johannesburg. This isn’t just about keeping the lights on, it’s about building and maintaining next-gen network infrastructure that drives innovation, resilience, and scalability. You’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimising network systems while ensuring security and reliability for business-critical operations. With your strong technical foundation, 5+ years of network engineering experience (at least 2 in a specialist role), and deep knowledge of Cisco, ACI, and related technologies, you’ll be part of a team shaping the future of digital connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design & Implementation Architect and deploy robust networking solutions that meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
Maintenance & Optimisation Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure continuous uptime.
Security Management Implement and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection, and other security protocols.
Project Leadership Lead end-to-end network projects from planning to delivery, managing timelines and resources.
Capacity Planning Analyse growth trends to anticipate future requirements and scale infrastructure.
Mentorship Support and guide junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management Collaborate with vendors and negotiate for hardware/software solutions aligned with business goals.
Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate documentation and ensure alignment with regulatory and audit requirements.

Requirements

3-year Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years in a specialist capacity.
Proven expertise in Cisco ACI design, configuration, and troubleshooting (multi-pod fabric, APIC management, firmware upgrades).
Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET, SQL, and automation tools to enhance efficiency.
Ability to troubleshoot and deploy VxLAN networks.
Experience supporting large-scale data centres and complex enterprise networking environments.

Qualifications

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or CCIE.
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE).
VMware VCP-NV or VCAP-NV Design.
Aruba ACMX / Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP).
CompTIA Network+.
Certified Network Defender (CND).
