About the Role
An exciting permanent opportunity exists within a specialist short-term insurance business unit for an Assistant Vice President Specialist Level Actuarial Data Scientist. This function plays a critical role in strengthening predictive pricing capabilities, improving risk segmentation, and influencing data-driven decision-making at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of predictive models across the underwriting, claims, and customer segmentation.
- Integrate emerging data sources (geospatial, behavioural, and external datasets) to enhance pricing accuracy and risk differentiation.
- Drive model governance, transparency, documentation, and ethical data-use standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-impact analytical and pricing solutions across multiple business units.
- Partner with enterprise-wide analytics teams to align modelling practices and adopt leading techniques and toolsets.
- Mentor and support junior analysts and actuarial students.
Requirements
- Education: Nearly qualified Actuary with 10 actuarial exams completed
- Membership with a recognised actuarial association (e.g. ASSA or IFoA)
- Experience: 5 years’ actuarial or data science experience in short-term insurance pricing, risk, or analytics
- Proven hands-on modelling experience within a live insurance environment essential
- Ability to demonstrate measurable commercial impact from deployed models
