About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Tax Compliance Officer to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of tax returns, managing client relationships, and maintaining compliance with South African tax legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit tax returns including ITR12, IRP6, ITR14, VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, Trusts and NPO returns
- Handle SARS queries, verifications, audits, objections, penalties and payment arrangements
- Manage tax deadlines and ensure clients remain compliant
- Assist with tax clearances, registrations and eFiling profile issues
- Maintain accurate tax records, reconciliations, and compliance trackers
- Communicate tax deadlines and outstanding information with clients
Requirements
- Qualification in Taxation
- Registered Tax Practitioner (advantageous)
- Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation
- Experience working on SARS eFiling
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- 25 years experience in a tax compliance role, preferably within an accounting practice
- Experience dealing directly with SARS queries and objections
