Technical Lecturer Position About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Technical Lecturer to join our academic team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in technical subjects to post-secondary students who have recently completed their grade 12 education. This is an excellent opportunity for an educator passionate about bridging the gap between foundational knowledge and advanced technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and practical sessions in technical subjects
- Develop comprehensive curriculum materials, including lesson plans, assignments, and assessments
- Provide individualized support and mentoring to students transitioning from secondary to tertiary education
- Assess student progress through various evaluation methods and provide constructive feedback
- Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements to ensure relevant course content
- Collaborate with academic colleagues to maintain program standards and continuous improvement
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and institutional committees
- Support student success initiatives and academic advising as needed
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Technology, Red Seal or related technical field
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience at post-secondary level or equivalent industry training experience
- Strong knowledge of current technical practices and emerging technologies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to students with varying academic backgrounds
- Proficiency in educational technology and learning management systems
- Commitment to inclusive and accessible teaching practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical field
- Professional certifications or licenses in area of expertise
- Industry experience in addition to academic credentials
- Experience with project-based learning.
