Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute mining activities in line with production and business objectives.
- Lead operational teams, contractors, and supervisors.
- Oversee equipment allocation, fleet performance, and maintenance planning.
- Drive operational efficiency, optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Act as the appointed 2.6.1 legally accountable person for the mine section.
- Ensure full compliance with MHSA, SANS standards, COPs, SOPs, and legal appointments.
- Approve and sign off on risk assessments, procedures, and training files.
- Champion the Zero Harm philosophy.
- Lead incident investigations and rootcause analysis.
- Ensure environmental compliance, waste management, and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage supervisors, shift bosses, operators, and artisans.
- Handle workforce planning, training, and skills development.
- Lead disciplinary processes and performance management.
- Manage site budget, cost control, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with client contractual deliverables and KPIs.
- Prepare operational reports, forecasts, and client presentations.
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):
- Grade 12 (NQF4) essential.
- Blasting Certificate, Shift Boss Certificate, or Mining Diploma/Degree (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years mining experience
- Must hold or qualify for a 2.6.1 appointment.
- Strong technical understanding of underground or opencast mining processes.
