Job Summary

A Tissue Manufacturing company in Kempton Park is looking for a Yard Controller with 4-5 years of experience within paper/tissue making environment. Must have matric with maths and science Code 14 driver`s license Forklift license would be an added advantage Duties includes: Control the movement of vehicles, product and pedestrians in the yard area to ensure procedures are adhered to and to reduce the risk to minimize and prevent incidents. Applying and enforcing general safety and ensuring the adherence to safety regulations Assist the trucks, own and 3rd parties while they revers not only in the yard but also between the Mill and the warehouse. No – vehicle must be allowed to reverse without assistance. Monitoring the Loading and Offloading of trucks, safe practice and keeping pedestrians clear of these vehicles and the machinery. Controlling the flow of trucks (and being in constant communication with security). Ensuring man and machine separation where possible. Controlling the vehicles and space allocated for them when parked overnight not to disturb normal operations. Control and manage the area and cores received from suppliers and the factory, as well as the core stands to ship cores back from converting. Ensure the core bin are emptied when needed and manage the neatness in this area. Manage the pallet area. Manage the waste area and ensure the wastebins are emptied when needed. Ensure FIFO method is applied when pulp is moved from warehouse to Mill for consumption. Ensure the safe stacking of pulp in the yard area and in the designated areas. Do daily checks (twice a day) on stacked pulp in the yard area to ensure safety. Manage and ensure housekeeping is always maintained in the yard area. Maintain optimal level of customer services and assist to resolve all customer issues. Supervise all customer and company staff in all yard operations. Monitor loading of materials to ensure safe transfer to other stores. Coordinate with other departments and investigate accidents and identify the root cause of damage. Liaise with Security and assist with CCTV investigations and compiling evidence for accidents and incidents. Monitor and ensure wadding is shipped from the Factory to the warehouse as soon as possible, the trucks are loaded and offloaded as soon as possible. Ensure the Truck Drivers and Material Handlers adhere to all safety rules. Ensure the Truck drivers adhere to the standard operating procedure in shipping stock from the Mill to the warehouse. Ensure no damaged stock is received from the Factory and reported immediately. Report any delays immediately. Familiarize yourself with the duties of the Receiving supervisor and assist in his absence when required.
