Kempton Park: Mechanical Fitter (Power Station Industry)

About the Role

The Mechanical Fitter position is a critical role in maintaining the integrity of mechanical equipment throughout our power station plant, ensuring maximum machine efficiencies and minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain integrity of mechanical equipment throughout the plant
• Maximize machine efficiencies and reduce machine breakdown times
• Attend to all breakdowns during or outside normal working hours
• Ensure all critical spares are readily available, maintaining inventory to minimize downtime to the operation
• Carry out routine inspections of plant equipment and report any defects, dangerous acts or occurrences and take relevant action
• Maintain the scheduled maintenance system and all related documentation
• Be trained and obtain authorisation within a reasonable period of time as Responsible Person to take out Permits to Work when necessary
• Assist with the development and improvement of operating procedures on an ongoing basis in step with modern technology & equipment
• Assist with developing, maintaining and updating of plant records and drawings
• Develop an in-depth knowledge of power plant operation and generation of electricity

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Standard 10) / NQF Level 4 Qualification
• NQF Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification
• Computer skills (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
