About the Role

We are seeking Enrolled Nurse Assistants to join our team at Complete Healthcare Services in Kwazulu-Natal. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work on a one-to-one basis with patients in the comfort of their homes or caring for patients in a facility. Your duties may revolve around the care of adults and children with tracheostomies connected to a ventilator, elderly patients with special focus on dementia and Alzheimer’s care, quadriplegic patients with PEG tubes, palliative patients in end-of-life situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide basic care, assisting with personal hygiene (washing, dressing, grooming, feeding, support with moving, toileting)
  • Administer medications under supervision of the registered nurse or family
  • Documenting patients’ condition and progress
  • Providing support and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) for patients
  • Monitoring vital signs of patients and record
  • Do basic wound care
  • Manage feeds of a tracheostomy baby by means of a feeding pump
  • Observe changes in condition of patients and record in the daily report

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of treatment plans set out by other team members (doctor, NSM or physiotherapist)
  • Good communication skills with supervisors, colleagues, patients, and family members
  • Knowledge of dealing with emergency situations with a patient in their home
  • Knowledge of Geriatric Care, Paediatric Care, Dementia Care, Post Stroke Care, Ventilation Care
  • Good knowledge of catheter care (indwelling, supra pubic, intermittent)
  • Good knowledge of prevention of pressure sores in a bedridden patient
  • Skilled in writing reports

Qualifications

  • Level and Accreditation Diploma as a qualified Enrolled Nurse Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
