Job Description

Job Summary:
We are actively seeking safety-conscious and recently qualified individuals to join our Health and Safety team as Junior Health and Safety Administrators under the YES (Youth Employment Service) initiative. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for young talents interested in occupational health and safety to gain hands-on experience and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment within the construction machinery industry.

Responsibilities:

Safety Inspections:

  • Learn and contribute to conducting regular safety inspections of the workplace.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing potential safety hazards.
Safety Training Support:
  • Gain exposure to supporting safety training sessions for employees.
  • Assist in organizing training materials and coordinating training logistics.

Incident Reporting:

  • Learn to assist in the documentation of safety incidents and near misses.
  • Contribute to the analysis of incidents to identify root causes.

Emergency Response Coordination:

  • Assist in coordinating emergency response drills and procedures.
  • Learn to maintain emergency response equipment and supplies.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, training, and incidents.
  • Contribute to the organization of documentation related to health and safety.

Collaboration with Teams:

  • Work closely with Health and Safety professionals and different departments to promote safety awareness.
  • Contribute to effective communication within the Health and Safety team.

Preferred Skills:

  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety principles.
  • Participation in relevant coursework or training programs.
Requirements:

  • Recent completion of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34.
  • Must not have taken part in the YES Programme before.
  • Be currently unemployed
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Interest in occupational health and safety.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
