About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Farm Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our olive farm in Paarl. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, business management, and leadership skills. They will be responsible for managing and motivating teams, increasing production and growth, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and pest control.
Key Responsibilities
- Grove Management: Cultivate and maintain the quality of our olive groves.
- Chemical Pest Control: Apply pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers to crops as necessary.
- Fertilizer programme: Implement a fertilizer program to promote healthy plant growth.
- Pruning: Regularly prune trees to ensure optimal fruit production.
- Irrigation Development: Develop and implement irrigation systems to optimize water usage.
- Maintenance of farm vehicles, tractors, and equipment: Keep all vehicles in working condition at all times.
Requirements
- Knowledge of crops growth and diseases
- Experience with planting olive trees
- Harvesting of fruit by hand and machine
- Identifying plants, pests, and weeds
- Applying pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops.
- Business Management knowledge and experience
- Mathematical and strategic planning skills essential
- Managerial Skills: Human resources, Good leadership, Must be able to manage and motivate teams.
