About the Role
As a Purchasing Specialist in Pinetown, you will be responsible for managing medium and straightforward commodities/services, as well as developing strategic sourcing plans to optimize costs and improve category performance. You will work closely with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, ensure compliance with procurement processes, and drive business growth through effective contract management and supplier development.
Key Responsibilities
- Category management (Medium and straight forward commodities/services)
- Strategic Sourcing – Develop an internal category profile defining Total Cost of Ownership, procurement processes, spend profiles and associated risks
- Develop an industry and supplier profiles, including understanding the industry dynamics, potential suppliers and industry and supplier financials
- Contract Management – manage contract negotiations, contract drafting and on-going performance management resulting from the contract
- Monitor and manage category procurement compliance
- Proactively manage ad-hoc issues from end users (e.g. distribution, finance, production, compliance)
Requirements
- Diploma in Procurement/Supply Chain Management, Commerce or Engineering
- Active CIPS Membership
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing; heavy industry, FMCG
