Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall day to day management and coordination of all departments, to ensure the vision and mission of the organization is achieved. This position requires effective business administration skills and an integrated approach towards overseeing all departmental functions such as Programmes, HR, IT, Transport, Facilities and General Finance.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Human Resources or Business Administration.
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years demonstrated experience in senior management.
  • Must have experience in managing multiple departments.
  • Budgeting and financial management skills gained through budget-holding responsibilities.
  • Excellent time management skills, and an ability to create effective work methodologies to prioritize work tasks across different departments.
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and act on them.
  • A positive outlook, intelligent, well-balanced both physically and mentally to maintain personal resourcefulness.
  • Valid code 8 (B) drivers license.

Key performance areas:

  • To effectively manage the day-to-day operations at the Schauderville centre and flag risks to the Board.
  • To manage and support the leadership team of 3 senior managers/administrators to ensure organizational efficiency according to the strategic objectives set by the Board.
  • To effectively oversee and manage the HR function at the organization ie. Compliance, payroll, pension, employment process etc.
  • To effectively oversee and manage assets and support functions, including vehicles (Transport) & properties (Buildings)
  • To ensure that the organization complies in terms of governance ie. Board, Power of Attorney etc.
  • To ensure compliance in terms of operations ie. Health and safety, AGM, Annual report etc.
  • To oversee and ensure effective project management of multiple funded projects, across various departments, according to donor requirements, and the most effective implementation methodology.
  • To represent the organization, together with departmental managers, at relevant stakeholder forums and community development platforms.
  • To ensure UVIWE uses a cost-effective approach towards resource mobilization across all departments.
  • To ensure the organization develops Standard Operating Procedures in all departments to ensure organizational efficiency & consistency.
