About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team specialising in the design and development of armoured and protected vehicle platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for innovating robust mechanical systems, detailed CAD modelling, structural design, and supporting prototype development through testing and validation to meet defence industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and structural components for armoured vehicles, including chassis, suspension, drivetrain, and integrated armour solutions.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or Inventor.
  • Perform mechanical calculations (strength, fatigue, vibration, optimization) and design analysis to ensure performance and compliance.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, validation, and design reviews throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and product integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably within defence, automotive, or heavy engineering segments.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, Inventor).
  • A solid understanding of structural design, materials, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation.
