About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and professional Protection Supervisor to oversee Protection Officers and ensure effective implementation of security, safety, crowd control, and emergency response measures during events, meetings, and official activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising operational security teams, maintaining order, and ensuring that all security personnel perform their duties in line with required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising Protection Officers during events, meetings, and official proceedings.
  • Ensuring security and safety protocols are correctly implemented.
  • Coordinating crowd control activities to prevent disruptions, hostilities, or unsafe conditions.
  • Providing guidance to Protection Officers during conflict, emergency, or crisis situations.
  • Applying and directing de-escalation techniques where required.
  • Liaising with team leaders, law enforcement agencies, municipal officials, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensuring professional conduct, discipline, neutrality, and presentable appearance of security personnel.
  • Monitoring access control, attendee movement, and potential security threats.
  • Assisting with emergency response, evacuation procedures, and safeguarding of participants.
  • Preparing and submitting reports on incidents, risks, and operational performance.
  • Supporting effective communication between security teams and event officials.

Requirements

  • Valid PSIRA Grade B registration.
  • Valid South African Identity Document.
  • Valid PSIRA certificate.
  • SASSETA-aligned certification in Crowd Control Management.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in specialised security services within a crowd control management environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a security, protection, or crowd control environment will be advantageous.
