Machine Minder – Pretoria Our client in the medical manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Machine Minder to join their Pretoria-based factory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of manufacturing equipment used in the production of steam sterilizers, pressure vessels, and stainless steel products. This role plays a key part in ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved. The environment is highly regulated, and the company operates within the Medical Devices industry with ISO certification standards. Key Responsibilities Production & Machine Operation Set up, operate, and monitor manufacturing machinery and fabrication equipment Ensure machines operate efficiently to meet production targets Load materials and components into machines and remove finished products Adjust machine settings to maintain quality and performance standards Follow production work orders, technical drawings, and specifications accurately Record production output, downtime, and variances Complete job cards, checklists, and inspection documentation Work closely with supervisors, maintenance teams, and quality inspectors Assist with the training of junior operators where required Support continuous improvement initiatives within the factory Maintenance & Housekeeping Conduct routine machine inspections and basic preventative maintenance Identify and report mechanical or operational issues Assist with minor repairs and machine adjustments where trained to do so Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within work areas Support maintenance and calibration schedules to ensure equipment compliance Ensure maintenance documentation and job records are completed accurately Quality Control Inspect components during and after production to ensure compliance with quality standards Use measuring equipment such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers Identify and report defects or non-conformances immediately Assist with investigations into product complaints and non-conformance issues Ensure all products comply with required manufacturing and safety standards Support ongoing process improvement initiatives Health, Safety & Compliance Operate machinery in accordance with company safety procedures and regulations Wear required PPE at all times Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or near misses immediately Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment Support all company housekeeping and health & safety standards Minimum Requirements Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent Minimum 5 years’ experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Experience within stainless steel fabrication, pressure vessels, or a related industry advantageous Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills Ability to read and follow production drawings, specifications, and work instructions Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Team player with the ability to use initiative Personal Attributes Reliable and safety-conscious Strong work ethic and positive attitude High attention to detail Organised and methodical Problem-solving mindset Ability to work independently and within a team Additional Information Industry: Medical Manufacturing Location: Pretoria Training: In-house training provided Candidates may be subject to alcohol and/or drug testing in line with company policy.
