Key responsibilities include: Compile project requirements from approved quotations Develop all the designs including specifications, drawings and schedules Supplier liaison with large equipment procurement Direct client communication and relationship management Site Inspections The incumbent will report to the Technical Director Project progress and relevant documentation administration Travel locally to meet clients required (travel costs will be covered by the company) General skills / experience: 5 years experience in the project management, construction and installation/delivery a major advantage General understanding of construction and installation projects Experience with client facing responsibilities Professionalism is key Strong communication skills, verbal and written Ability to proactively manage / coordinate multiple projects at a time Organisational, documentation, administrative and reporting capabilities Good computer literacy Flexible to adjust easily to changing internal structure and systems of a developing company Quick learner – On the job training and mentoring will be available. Job Description

About the Role

Unique Personnel Ltd is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems, including solar, AC, and DC systems, as well as medium voltage networks. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compile complete designs and requirements based on approved quotations and site conditions.
  • Cover all documentation required for construction and installation, including specifications, drawings, schedules, and layouts in AutoCAD.
  • Include:
  • Compiling array layouts
  • Site layouts including sleeve and manholes
  • SLDs (including circuit breaker and cable sizing, fault level calculations, volt drop calculations)
  • DC, AC (LV and MV) Plantroom layouts / designs
  • Schedules (Excel), such as stringing schedules, cable schedules, MV design calculations / sheets
  • Produce materials lists for primary systems.
  • Work closely with the technical director, office manager, and warehouse manager to procure materials and equipment for projects.
  • High-level project management and planning (weekly) with the technical director and MD.
  • Direct client communication and relationship management once the sales department has handed over a project.
  • Provide technical input during sales and quotation phase where required.
  • Complete site inspections / audits to integrate into designs.
  • Travel locally to meet clients where required.
  • Collaborate with all departments to further develop, improve, and optimise internal processes, procedures, and approval mechanisms.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in an electrical design role with construction and installation environment.
  • Electrical design experience (e.g. volt drop, fault levels, MV and LV network design).
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Excel (must be able to draw SLDs, layouts etc).
  • Good general understanding of construction and installation projects – including project life cycle and procurement.
  • Experience with client-facing responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Matric qualification.
  • Non-negotiable Electrical engineering qualification (B.Tech or B.Ing) – Completed.
  • Own reliable vehicle and valid drivers licence.
