About the Role
A leading industrial company situated in KwaZulu-Natal is urgently seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join their team. The successful incumbent will be responsible for setting and operating CNC & Conventional Machines, with a focus on creating accurate components and maintaining high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create CNC programs from ISO/SANS drawings.
- Set up, program, operate and troubleshoot CNC lathes and mills independently.
- Operate the CNC machines, VMC milling lathes, conventional machine and bore mill.
- Reduce set up time and machining time through process improvements.
- Maintain all machine shop repair and maintenance records.
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specification using tools such as callipers, height gauges, micrometers, rulers etc.
- Provide assistance for upload / download programs, set up data through the machine HMI panel.
- Ensure that the correct tools are available for production.
- Periodically report back to management in terms of time schedule, equipment quality and deficiencies, subcontractor performances, extra costs and solutions.
Requirements
- Trade Tested Machinist
- Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5S / Lean Six Sigma advantageous
- Preferably a tertiary certificate in CNC Machining
- Software programming Mastercam and Solidworks
Qualifications
- Completed Tertiary Certificate in CNC Machining (if applicable)
