Job Description
A leading industrial company situated in KwaZulu-Natal is urgently seeking the expertise of an experienced Machine Operator to join their team.
The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for:
Setting and Operating CNC & Conventional Machines:
- Create CNC programs from ISO/SANS drawings.
- Ability to set up, program, operate and troubleshoot CNC lathes and mills independently.
- Operate the CNC machines, VMC milling lathes, conventional machine and bore mill.
- Reduce set up time and machining time through process improvements.
- Maintain all machine shop repair and maintenance records.
- Inspect completed work for conformance to specification using tools such as callipers, height gauges, micrometers, rulers etc.
- Provide assistance for upload / download programs, set up data through the machine HMI panel.
- Ensure that the correct tools are available for production.
- Periodically report back to management in terms of time schedule, equipment quality and deficiencies, subcontractor performances, extra costs and solutions.
Quality:
- Be able to manufacture components accurately to drawing.
- Ensure quality during the fabrication process and as per hold point for preliminary quality control checks (QCPs).
- Focus on minimizing the cost impact of non-quality.
- Strive for ZERO non-conformances.
HSE:
- Comply with Company Directives and Guidelines, procedures and legal requirements.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in Machine Shop.
Key requirements:
- Trade Tested Machinist
- Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5S / Lean Six Sigma advantageous
- Preferably a tertiary certificate in CNC Machining
- Software programming Mastercam and Solidworks
