About the Role
The Mine Health and Safety Executive (SHEC) Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring the mine’s SHEC management plan, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and promoting environmental best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the mines SHEC management plan
- Conduct risk assessment, safety inspections, and incident investigations
- Ensure compliance with the Mine Health & Safety Act and environmental regulations
- Maintain SHEC registers, safety statistics, and incident logs
- Facilitate toolbox talks and safety inductions for employees and contractors
- Liaise with the department of mineral resources and energy (DMRE) and local community
- Promote environmental best practices and community engagement initiatives
Requirements
- 3-5 years SHE experiences, preferably in a mining or industrial environment
- Knowledge of MHSA and environmental legislation
- SAMTRAC or equivalent safety training preferred
Qualifications
National or certificate in Safety Management / Environmental Science or similar
Salary & Benefits
R 35 – R 40 000.00 per annum (negotiable)
