Job Title: Safety Officer

Job Purpose

To ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety legislation, company policies, and site-specific safety requirements, creating and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid SACPCMP registration (Compulsory)
• Relevant Safety / OHS qualification (e.g. SAMTRAC or equivalent)
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a Safety Officer
• Sound knowledge of OHS Act, Mine Health & Safety Act, and related regulations
• Strong reporting, inspection, and incident investigation skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company standards
• Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Compile and maintain safety files and reports
• Facilitate safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions
• Investigate incidents and near misses and recommend corrective actions
• Liaise with management, contractors, and regulatory bodies
